Grand Orient of Egypt
“We came to build, not merely to speak — therefore our sleeves are always rolled up.”

Identity and Nature
The Grand Orient Of Egypt is an original Egyptian Liberal Symbolic Masonic current, philosophically and organizationally independent from any global Masonic body. It draws its identity from the profound depth of Ancient Egyptian civilization (Kemet), and regards Egypt as a Masonically virgin land since Freemasonry disappeared from it in the early 1960s.
This interruption, extending for more than six decades, resulted in the absence of any living organizational lineage on Egyptian soil, making self-foundation a civilizational necessity.
The Grand Orient Of Egypt emerged from within a previous Egyptian Masonic experience that ultimately did not endure — an experience in whose very core we participated as Master Masons while it was still advancing upon the right path.
When we, as Masters of the Lodge, witnessed a deviation from the essence of the Craft and its values, only one choice remained worthy of the Craft itself: to build anew — a structure more coherent, more transparent, and more faithful to the principles in which we believed.

Legal Status and Actual Activity
The Grand Orient Of Egypt possesses full legal existence encompassing all aspects of its practices.
By virtue of this legal standing, it is currently active on the ground, beginning its journey with three working lodges that regularly conduct symbolic and ritual work with discipline and continuity, while continuously striving toward expansion and the establishment of new lodges.
The Grand Orient Of Egypt does not recognize any form of virtual Masonic work.

The Spirit of the Temple
«“From light it arose, not from stone.
From silence it ascended, not from sound.”»
The Grand Orient Of Egypt is founded upon four essential principles:
- Liberty: as liberation from ignorance, fanaticism, and fear.
- Spiritual Brotherhood: as a bond transcending gender, origin, and social status.
- Equality: complete equality between men and women.
- Intellectual Tolerance: as acceptance of the many faces of wisdom and respect for the diversity of its sources.
---
Distinctive Characteristics
- Complete openness to both genders: embracing mixed Freemasonry as a practical embodiment of the principle of equality.
- Comprehensive respect for beliefs: full acceptance of all beliefs that refine the conscience and guide their adherents toward a supreme creative force, alongside strict abstention from political or religious disputes within the Temple.
- The pursuit of enlightenment: emphasis on self-enlightenment, spiritual renewal, and service to society and heritage.
- Transparency and discipline: unwavering commitment to financial and administrative transparency, as well as symbolic discipline, at every level of work.
- Internal Constitution: operating under a detailed internal constitution governing all lodge activities, ensuring coherence, justice, and continuity.

Organizational Structure
Lodge Shemsu Hor No. 1
The supreme body and symbolic reference authority for all lodges.
Its essential mission is to serve the Brethren, organize the rhythm of the work, and facilitate everything that enables the practice of the Masonic Craft to remain creative, disciplined, and secure within a highly sensitive region — all in service of the greater purpose: spreading enlightenment and elevating society.
